George G. Kallimanis

George G. Kallimanis was born on August 29, 1934, in New York, NY, and died November 15, 2017, in his home in Bayside, NY. George retired from the New York City Fire Department after 31 years of service, 15 years as a firefighter and 16 years as a fire marshal.

George was a devoted husband and father and an active member of his parish, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Bayside New York, spending many years as a Eucharistic Minister. After his retirement from the Fire Department, he became a member of the Carmelite Order of the Ancient Observance.

George is survived by his children - son Joseph Kallimanis and his wife Theresa Kallimanis, son David Kallimanis, daughter Mary Grace Schwartz and her husband Steven Schwartz; grandchildren – Kaitlyn Kallimanis, Nancy Grace Kallimanis, Brian Schwartz, Stephanie Schwartz, and Daniel Schwartz; and siblings - Sister Theresa Ann Kallimanis, Cecilia Mercado and Eva Santulli.

George is preceded in death by his wife Maura Kallimanis, his sister Mary Kallimanis and his brother Dennis Kallimanis.

A visitation 2-5 & 7-9pm for George will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY 11358. A funeral mass 9:45am will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 34-24 203rd Street, Bayside, NY. A burial will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at St. Charles, Conklin Street, Farmingdale, NY.
