Sorry Joe, I could thank you in person on my big day yesterday. I came to know yesterday that you are no more. You are one of reason I am here today. When all hope was lost, you were God sent knight. Thank you very much for everything. Rest in peace. 

I'm so deeply saddened about your Dad's passing. He put up a good fight until his body gave out. He had an abundance of love for his family and granddaughter. Joe was a wonderful friend to me and a kind loving man. I will dearly miss him.

When I think about past memories for  my Uncle Yus,  the 2 things I will always keep in my thoughts…the beach and the movies! Uncle Joe LOVED the sun and beach tremendously! Driving out to Jones Beach was an adventure!  Especially at 6 am!! Picking up the girls, lunch and snacks was a must… On rainy days we went to the movies, no sharing popcorn! We all had our own bag! I’m sorry I didn’t get to see and hug you, but know you will always be in my heart…xoxo Nikki  

I can't tell you how bad I felt learning of Joey's passing. I loved him! 
When I was little living in Jackson Heights, I looked forward to when cousins Tina and Joey were coming over.  Joey would take me in the street and play football with me. He was unbelievably strong and had some throwing arm! I was a kid and he would tell me to go out for a pass. I would run out - he would wave for me to go further - he would say "go further" again & again. Next thing, I was almost at the gas station on Northern Blvd! He would then throw a perfect long distance pass to me. Catching one of his passes was almost scary to a kid. Later, somewhere around 1965, I used to watch him "Simoniz" and detail (like no one back then) his mother in laws's white Buick. Simoniz car wax was not easy to use. I'd get tired just watching him. He set the standard for the "Detail Business" of today. I was so glad to see him at Melissa & Rich's wedding. That's when I found out how "modest" he was, when he first told me he trained to be a pro-football player.  He had never told me or bragged about it ever before. Please send my condolences and share my message with his side of the family. I remember many of them - tell them cousin "Chris Guitar" sent them. Joey left me with some beautiful memories... my Dad always referred to him as "Big Joey!" Love, Cousin Chris Ambadjes

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Joe for many years, as most of you did, but, the last few years,  whenever I was in his company, my memory is of a VERY respectful, down to earth, interesting man who could always carry a conversation, and whose love for his girls was SO very evident and undeniable.   R.I.P. Joe.  They don't make 'em like you anymore!!

Joe was a very big part of my life.  I met him at 17 years old and fell in love.  We married had two beautiful daughters and now share Eliana our grandaughter who we both are so in love with.  Even though our marriage didn't last we always remained friends.  I love his family as I do mine.  Being the father & grandfather of my girls I will always hold a special place in my heart for him.  I am so glad we all spent Thanksgiving together this year.  He was so happy that day.  I pray he's resting in peace.  He will be so missed

My uncle Joey- when we were kids we called him uncle Joe-Joe!!! This picture was his birthday- we spent the whole day with him at his place in Florida. He couldn’t wait to introduce us to his friends. Telling all of his friends my niece and her family from NY are here! He was so happy that day!!! We had a great time!! We went to this great Italian restaurant for his birthday dinner!  We ate like crazy and sang happy birthday!! Big Tony as he called my older son Anthony would talk lacrosse and football. He came and watched him play when he was in NY- So proud of him that he was playing lacrosse in college- Nicky nic as he would call my younger son, the future lawyer he would call him. The boys still  laugh all the time, when we went for a visit at my mom’s house out East with uncle Joe-Me and the kids got stuck in a corn maze for an hour- uncle Joe then proceeds to beep the horn like a lunatic so we can find our way to him- that is a day we will never forget! We laughed all the way home as he drove my truck - he loved cars and wanted to drive my new truck back. My uncle will be missed this is a huge loss in our family- I am sure he is smiling down on all of us!! 


Miss you and think of you every day, Mr. C!! Thank you for always showering us with your compliments!! You really knew how to make us feel young. ❤️

Another Bronx boy is no longer with us. I remember him bragging about going to school with Eddy Kranepool of the Mets when Joey played football. I bragged about going to school two years behind Chaz Parmitieri who wrote "A Bronx Tale". Joey was a great guy to be around and those who knew him will miss him greatly.

Oh my God. I just talked to your Dad recently. We are so sorry to hear this. He was a good friend to Tony and I. We spent many happy days together dancing, laughing and eating. He adored his family, and will be missed by many.

Joey was truly a fine gentleman we became friends when we both moved down to Wynmoor had a lot of fun together good guy. He’s in my thoughts as well as you and Paula his granddaughter and his daughter you’re all in my thoughts. Best regards

It has been eerily quiet without the 3 or 4 phone calls per day to say a 'quick hello,' talk about the weather, what you were eating or watching on TV, and to video chat. ◇

After not being able to visit in 2020 because of Covid, and spending the first several months of 2021 in & out of Florida hospitals alone - Dad decided to drive up to New York because he missed his family. He was a man on a mission and there was no stopping him! ☆

Dad was in New York for 7 months. He spent most of that time in hospitals or rehabs, and I can count on my hand the family members who he spent time with. But as I look through these pictures,  I know his mission was complete: he was able to spend quality time with his "sweet little angel from heaven," Eliana Skye. ♡

This is what we will hold on to and cherish always ❤.

What can I say- I have so many fond happy and funny memories with my big bro “Yusi”. We had a wonderful happy childhood with our loving parents and our big sis.
One memory that I always remember from our home on Colgate Avenue is when we had just gotten our beloved “starlight”.
What a loving and precious German Shepard he was.  So one night, Yusi tried to sneak up the long flight of stairs to our apartment, as he had missed curfew.
Well, as he reached the top step - he was greeted with a growling “star” in his face!

We loved going to Billy’s disco and dance the night away. As he said on the dance floor with his arms in the air, “ooo weee”!
I miss my big brother everyday, but none more than football Sunday - calling each other with every NY Giant mess up!
At least he wasn’t pounding my couch as we did at Nani’s.
I have a huge void in my heart from losing Joe.  
I hope he’s dancing with Nani and popa and the rest of our dearly departed.

Joey would brag about going to high school with Eddie Cranepool while  I  bragged about Chaz  Palmitieri . And he’d brag about his kids. 

Met Joey at a racquetball tournament in Florida 6 years ago.  

He has just received a new hip which started a conversation between us.  We had breakfast and lunch together for several days as I learned of his love of paddle ball, dancing and family. 

Joey and I kept in touch by phone ever since.  I will miss his witty banter and sweet self.

Forever in our hearts until we meet again

My Dad had eyes as blue as the sky, and a heart as big as the ocean   He had a sweet and gentle soul. He was most at content being surrounded by family. He lived for good times and great food!  Dad loved talking cars ,sports, and just catching up with old friends. He missed the old days on the paddleball courts with his park buddies, and nights out on the town dancing.  He loved his music and socializing.  My Dad could make friends LITERALLY anywhere!  Unfortunately in his later years, his back pain along with his heart condition, made it very hard for him to get around.
In 2015 my sister gave birth to his most treasured gift, Eliana Skye. She was the apple of grandpa Joey' s eye! He was just amazed how beautiful and smart his precious granddaughter was.  After the covid lockdown was lifted, Dad was desperate to get back to his girls in N.Y.  He missed us all terribly.  He drove in from Fla. A VERY sick man, yet made it to us safely. He spent many months in the hospital. In early July it turned into a touch and go situation. He beat the odds and pulled through! It was a miracle. God granted him more time. 5 more months of life. He lived those months on his own terms, independently. We had more time with our dad just doing everyday things. It wasn't always easy, but we did everything we could for him. The highlight always included spending time playing with Eliana, playing games, or watching movies. He was in his glory!
We got to spend Thanksgiving all together. It was a beautiful mild day in N.Y.  We even took family pics at a park. That day we treasure. I miss my dad more and more as each day passes, but will make sure that his memory  lives on forever until we meet again. XO  Traci❤

my memories of Joey go back to our high school days. We were all one big "click", . We had a ball down the basement on Friday nights dancing, laughing and always making plans. We favorite stomping ground was Luigis which we ate like it was our last meal. Joey was always the gentlemen our the guys & always respected by all. I loved him dearly then and still loved him over the years. Wish we had time to visit after he moved to Florida. He will be missed and thought of only with good and happy thoughts.

So saddened to hear of Joey’s passing. We were the 3 C’s. Casalino,  Caporale and Canner. In high school we were inseparable. You could make a movie of all the stuff we did:  bowling many days a week, two-hand touch football in the street almost every day, our club room in Joey’s basement.  It had indirect lighting, my 24 inch long pool table, a bar (where we drank jack daniels just like Frank and the Rat Pack) , and of course Frankie Maffi’s record player for “make-out sessions.  My wife is one of the “chicks” who was at our parties.  We thought we were so cool. Went to Yonkers for midnight bowling.  And a major highlight was the three of us dressing up like cheerleaders (with lipstick). And performing a cheer on the auditorium stage.  We  didn’t realize how special that all was. Good times for sure.  So, so long Joey.  And maybe we’ll meet again. All the best to you all who knew Joseph. 

Firstly, my condolences. Joey and I and a few other friends hung out together for many of our teenage years. He lived on Colgate Ave. and I lived on Bronx River Ave. His dad let us use the club basement to gather and play music. We also did a lot of bowling, me and the guys. Even then, the nicest, sweetest and respectful  gentlemen. I will think of him always that way and that young. So sad!    Agatha Falso

I didn't know Joe very well, but my memory of him will always be, that the few times  I was in his company, he was a true, old school gentleman.  
You will be missed by ALL your beautiful girls!!

Mr. Casalino, while we never met, the wonderful stories and pictures shared by your daughters show how special you really were.  Rest easy.

My Godfather, my Uncle... how can I narrow it down to one memory when I have a lifetime of them. He had a heart of gold and a giving soul. He was loved by everyone... I literally have over a 100 messages from my friends telling me how much they loved him. 
I personally will love and cherish you for the rest of my life.
Now that the pain is gone, you will suffer no more, rest in peace my Uncle.
