A dear friend wrote to me on the morning Marty passed away, “He was such a wonderful, loving, kind, generous, cheerful, and intelligent gentleman.” All true! He was a good son, husband and father, caring big brother and uncle, a loving father-in-law and a doting grandpa. A worthy Knight of Columbus, a good neighbor, a happy baker, and a long-time Yankee fan! As he passed into the next life, I’m sure it was Marty who greeted the angels and saints asking them, “How are you doing?” Thank you, Marty for all you have given us!

Today is the day I lost my dad 21 years ago I truly believe they are watching over us together ❤️

Marty worked on the polls for the Board of Elections, at first we were poll workers together and then I became the coordinator. Marty was always a breath of fresh air in an otherwise long, grueling day at the polls. He was always cheerful and pleasant no matter what came his way. It was an honor to know him and work with him.

Dear Regina, Rosemary and Richard,

I will always remember Marty’s laugh and smile.  I cherish our memories of NYC, Olive Garden and Broadway shows.

You were a great dad, grandpa, little league coach, math tutor, and anything else any of us ever needed you to be.

I still remember the day that Richie brought me to meet you and the family for the first time at Da Nico’s restaurant. You were so kind to me and made me feel so welcome in your family. Ever since then you took me in as your own daughter. 
You were an amazing Dad with amazing values. I always feel so lucky and proud to have such a nice husband and I know that you are to thank for raising such a nice man.  You were an amazing Grandfather to Evren as well. He is so fortunate to have had you as his Grandpa. We love you always and I’m going to miss your uplifting voice and your delicious Bundt cakes.

Marty was an exemplar of good, old-fashioned values. Family, friendship and kindness were the hallmarks of his being. Marty’s concern for your welfare was genuine. Whenever he visited Kenny’s dental office, it always seemed that he was more interested in finding out how our family was doing, than in having his teeth checked. Every visit of Marty’s included  the gift of a loaf of bread from his favorite Arthur Avenue bakery. We will miss Marty’s friendship of forty-six years, and his hearty “Hello! How are you doing?” Our thoughts are with Regina, Rosie, Rich, and the family.
