

Martin E Gallo was born in Brooklyn, NY and spent his childhood in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, before moving to Elmont where he attended Valley Stream North High School. After graduating, Marty studied briefly at St. John’s University before entering a career in law enforcement. He began his journey on Riker’s Island as a corrections officer quickly transitioning to a storied career with the New York City Police Department. While in the NYPD street crime unit, Marty was awarded a Medal of Valor, amongst other awards. As a police officer he worked in busy commands, and preferred to work the midnight shift. Marty spent the last 10 years of his career as a delegate for the men of the 113th precinct, where he retired March of 2001.
Marty raised his two boys along with their mother Fran in Island Park. His love for music translated to his sons who both became great musicians he was so proud of. He loved to have friends over to jam and attended many concerts. Marty was also very passionate about his dogs, fishing and most recently spending time with his two grandchildren.
Marty leaves behind his wife Jeanne Gallo, his brother Michael Gallo and sister Cecilia Ferrara, his sons William and Joseph, daughter in law Rachel, grandson Santino and granddaughter Quincy Rose.
The family will be receiving visitors for Martin on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 9:45am at St. Kevin's RC Church, 45-21 194th St, New York, NY 11358. Cremation Private.
