Martin Murphy

Martin Murphy, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, after a long illness. He was a beloved husband of Betty, loving father to Maureen, Donna, Michael, and Pam, devoted brother to Peter, Thomas, and Nancy, and predeceased by Mary, Chrissy, Patrick, Michael, and Joseph. Martin was a cherished father-in-law to John Doss, Mayumi Takatani, and Daniel Walsh, and a doting grandfather to Matthew (Doss), Liam (Walsh), Jack (Walsh), Katherine (Murphy), and Christina (Murphy).

Born in Ballynulty, Ireland (the parish of Kilmaine), Martin emigrated to New York City in 1952. He worked in various jobs upon arrival and ultimately spent 30 years as a bus driver for Steinway Transit before his retirement.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, February 28th at 10:45 am at St. Kevin’s Church in Flushing, NY. In lieu of flowers (which cannot be accommodated at the church) the family asks that any expressions of sympathy be conveyed via donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY.
