December 1936 – April 2025
Robert J. Ingrassia, age 88, of Fresh Meadows, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
Robert Ingrassia was born in 1938 to Chic and Elizabeth Ingrassia of Corona, Queens. Robert’s family was steeped deeply in Flushing history as his father owned and operated a horse stable and riding academy near Kissena Park. For nearly 100 years, the location, which was originally a farm before it functioned as a horse stable, offered horse lovers a place to board their animals. Robert’s entire family was raised in the shadows of the corral and horse handling was second nature to them. Robert met his wife, Carol, in Flushing, Queens, where both of them grew up and attended Bayside High School. Shortly after dating Carol, Robert enlisted in the Army and while serving, trained to be a paratrooper. During Robert’s service and assignment at Fort Dix, he and Carol were married. After Robert’s honorable discharge, he returned to Flushing and began working construction and became a skilled bricklayer and Carol, a prolific home manager. Finally, Robert and Carol purchased their home just two blocks from Robert’s childhood home. This is the home where Robert and Carol raised their children and still currently live. Robert and Carol have 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A devoted husband, Robert shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Carol Ingrassia. He was the proud and loving father of Charles (Susan) Ingrassia, Robin (Joseph) Falcone, Cathy (Lawrence) Levy, Robert Ingrassia Jr., and Arthur (Jeanette) Ingrassia. Robert’s heart was fullest when surrounded by his family, and he took immense joy in watching his family grow.
He was a cherished grandfather to Charles Jr. (Melissa), Maryann (Tom) Lodico, Robert Ingrassia, Vincent Falcone, Nicholas (Kaitlyn) Falcone, Amelia Merker (Ingrassia), Lawrence (Casandra) Levy, Danielle (Patrick) Muldoon, Lenny Levy, Ryan (Georgie) Levy, and Joseph Ingrassia. He was also an adored great-grandfather to Charlie, Dominick, Vincent, Emily, Nicholas, Victoria, Clayton, Avery, Bryce, Brody, Jameson, and Scarlett.
Robert is survived by his brother Frank and two sisters Betty Lou and Lenora. His family and friends will remember him for his unwavering love, his steady presence, and his passion for fishing—a pastime he treasured throughout his life.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Boulevard, Flushing, NY 11358. A graveside interment will follow on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to his heart.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
