Loving daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Seiler Brizzolara. Beloved wife of the late Sabatino (Sam) Tuccio. Loving mother of Andrea (John) Black, Vincent (Diane) Tuccio, Andrew (Debbie) Tuccio. Rose was predeceased by her beautiful baby boy Thomas. Cherished “Nana” grandmother of Jennifer (Mark) Ellsworth. Adored ”Nana” great grandmother of Sean, Aleah, Caleb and Noah.
Whether you called her Rose, Mom, Nana, Aunt Rose, Roselyn or Mama T. you knew her as modest, quiet and observant, taking in everything around her. She was a realist, someone who was efficient and practical in everything she did. Rose was a woman of faith, a friendly person who truly cared about her family and friends. Her warm smile, her gentleness, her generosity, sense of humor and her occasional mischievous wit.
Rose had two younger sisters, the late Helen Starace and the late Gloria Cole. The “Dolly Sisters” shared a love of reading, embroidery, knitting, crocheting and baking Christmas cookies. Rose read two or three books a week until recently and enjoyed talking about “her books” with friends and family.
Love can’t be defined but must be experienced. That was so true for Rose. On October 17, 1948 Rose married Sam Tuccio, the love of her life, at St. Joseph Catholic Church of West New York, New Jersey. In 1950 they moved to Flushing, New York. Faith was important to Rose. Her compassion, consideration and sympathy toward others was evident in her personal beliefs. She was a member of St Kevin’s, Flushing for 70+ years and while visiting her family in Colorado Springs attended Holy Apostles 7:00am Sunday Mass and Wednesday night Praise and Worship Community for 25 years.
Throughout her life, she distinguished herself as an exceptionally caring person. Over the years, whenever illness struck in her family, she was the one who stepped up. She cared for several sister-in-law’s, one of her brother-in-law’s and when her husband Sam suffered a stroke, she cared for him at home for over five years until his past away in 1996.
Rose loved to travel and visit family and friends. She spent fall and spring in New York with her family and traveled to Colorado Springs for winter and summer months visiting her Colorado family. The 2019 winter trip was extended because of the COVID Pandemic. She enjoyed the longer visit and celebrated her 99th birthday in Colorado. Many family members and friends across the country remembered her special day with phone and video calls, cards, flowers and chocolates.
In the past few months Rose entered Abode Home Hospice for additional care. She enjoyed the visits from her nurse, Iesha, and CNA, Bonnie, she would ask several times a day “is my friend (Bonnie) coming today” Bonnie and Rose became best of friends in a few short weeks. Rose passed peacefully on 14 November 2021.
The family welcomes donations to Abode Hospice as an expression of sympathy and gratitude, in lieu of flowers…
