He married the love of his life, Janet Viterbo Doronila on January 12th, 1974. They met at Emmanuel Hospital in Roxas City where she worked as a dietician and he a doctor. Then the two settled in New York where they would start their beautiful life together. They were married for 49 beautiful years until Mrs. Janet Doronila's passing on April 17th, 2023.
Dr. Doronila had an amazing career as an accomplished surgeon at Doctor's Hospital and Beth Israel in New York City. He was well respected and retired on December 2004.
His life was filled with countless travel adventures, usually twice a year to everywhere from Europe to the Carribean. He was an avid sports fan, religiously watching every tennis open and cheering on every New York team. He was a genius at any word games and puzzles including the New York Times crossword puzzles, Wordle, Connections and more, which no doubt kept his mind sharp until the end.
Dr. Wilfredo Doronila will be remembered as a loving husband, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a special man to many, lovingly referred to as 'Tito' or 'Manong' Willie. His strong, silent presence was matched with a big, generous heart.
Remaining to cherish Dr. Wilfredo Doronila's memory are his extended family members, the Diels and the Viterbos, who loved him dearly.
Following his wishes, he will be cremated on May 25, 2025. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be planned for August 16th.
