A lifelong Queens resident, Carol was born in 1953 to parents Marsha and Charles Met, Holocaust survivors from Poland who went into hiding in Siberia before emigrating to the United States in the mid-1940's.
Carol was a deeply spiritual person and took tremendous pride in her Jewish faith. She was also truly ahead of her time celebrating her Bat Mitzvah in 1966 during an era when the tradition was still relatively uncommon for women.
Carol graduated from Cardozo High School in Bayside in 1970 and attended Queens College where she majored in Spanish. Carol went on to receive a business graduate degree from CW Post and was a trailblazing female in the corporate world as a high ranking Human Resources executive for more than 30 years at Alexander's, ADP and Sterling Bank
In 1973 Carol met the love of her life, Joel Lieber. They married in 1976 and were at each other's side for more than 40 years. Never were two people more perfectly matched. They enjoyed traveling the world together, and brought out the best in one another with enough laughter to fill two lifetimes. Later in life when Joel was diagnosed with Parkinsons, Carol became a full time caregiver to her husband before his untimely passing in 2020.
Carol loved everything about NYC: the food, the culture, and especially her hometown baseball team the Mets.
Carol is survived by her mother-in-law Diane, her nephews Adam and David, niece-in-law Alison, great-niece Isabella, great-nephew Brady and cousins Cheryl, Ron, Matthew, Brooke.
Carol was a longtime congregate at Hollis Hills Jewish Center where she was a beloved member and leader of the synagogue.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 17th 1 PM at the New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon. The family will also be receiving guests on Sunday, January 19th at a private home; please email [email protected] for more information.
Carol Lieber passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
