Sorry to see that Mr. Levy passed away in May. He was such a kind soul with a smile on his face and a welcoming manner.  I only knew him for a few years, the last time I saw him was at the Air Power Museum and he was so excited to share his memories. He lived a long life which unto itself is amazing, but he always had grace and was appreciative of the people around him.  Condolences to Steve, Andy and Diane.  The ailments of the years are now gone and Charlie is free from pain.  Thank you for your service  to our nation in World War II, 10th Mountain Division. May you forever rest in peace and know that  you are remembered fondly.

Truly Uncle Charlie's love for family shines through in each of you and by extension to your loved ones. (Uncle Charlie's family tree is a shining example of his deep love and belief in family.)

I gained a lot from the rabbi's remarks, especially his explanations of Yiddish words like mensch. My mom always used the word Mensch and I can now see how compassion and acts of kindness are infused in our families. 

I will think of you all, and Uncle Charlie with gratitude.

First learned of Mr.  Charles Levy when a 10th Mountain Div. Descendant like myself called me from near Ft. Drum, NY and asked if I might give a ride to Mr. L., a decorated WWII veteran of the T.M.D. (86-G), to their big gathering and Natl. Association reunion nearly five years ago this June.  As a fellow Queens resident and also an intended attendee, Charles would have been a natural as my passenger. In fact, when I learned this nonagenarian had his own imminent plans to travel by subway to Manhattan and transfer to a train or bus for the 600 plus mile trek, I quickly contacted his son to ask if his Dad might prefer such an arrangement.  His loving son gently vetoed the arduous journey regardless of the means of transportation, but the elderly Mr. L.'s enthusiasm and determination impressed me and others. Tried to contact and at last visit  him several times in the ensuing years and finally managed to do so this past Christmas season. Glad I did. Like my Dad, I sensed in Mr. L. that same spirit of special men who arguably "saved the world." Rest in Peace, Sir and "Climb To Glory."

I appreciate Uncle Charley - his kindness, big heart and warm welcome when his grandniece, Lilli and I traveled to visit family in New York around five years ago. His love of genealogy was boundless; his personal and family history as well as his broader history as a ski patrol soldier in the snowy slopes of Italy in WW II were amazing.

I remember how comfortable I felt when at nine, my family visited Uncle Charley's home in NY between our military travels and later in my sixties when my daughter said, "I want to get to know your family, Mom." I wish I had started earlier.

Blessings to you, Uncle Charley and hello to Aunt Anita. The devotion that Diane and other family members expressed is a testimony of your deep love of family, Uncle. I will always be grateful to you.
