A proud veteran, she served her country with dignity, carrying the weight of duty with quiet strength. Yet her greatest service was beyond the uniform—it was found in the home she built, the love she nurtured, and the close connections she maintained with her family.
She met her husband, John W. Van Steen, and together they forged a life grounded in loyalty and resilience. Their love brought forth their son, John B. Van Steen, whom they raised with fierce dedication, nurturing his sense of independence and success.
After leaving the Air Force, Elizabeth embraced the role of homemaker, channeling her discipline and care into every moment spent with her family.
Elizabeth struggled with her health during the later part of her adult life, but always remained strong and fought to overcome the challenges she was faced with.
Now, as she departs, she leaves behind her son, John, her brother, Robert, and two sisters, Carol and Mary—each carrying the love she gave so selflessly. Though she never sought the spotlight, her presence shined in ways only those who truly knew her could understand. And now, she steps away with the same quiet grace and unwavering dignity.
