It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of my beloved husband, Freddy Acheampong, on March 1, 2025.
Freddy was born on August 27, 1981, in Ghana and moved to Germany at the age of 9. In 2008, he came to the United States to play soccer at Wesleyan College, beginning a journey that would touch countless lives. It was there that he met the love of his life and college sweetheart, Charis “Rebecca” Acheampong, and later became a devoted husband and father to our sweet children, with whom he built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Freddy was a kind, hardworking, patient, and lovable soul who carried an infectious personality that made everyone feel seen and valued. No matter who you were, Freddy had a way of making you feel special. His wisdom was always paired with humor, and his advice left lasting impacts on those fortunate enough to receive it.
A true Virgo, Freddy was driven, dedicated, and logical. He worked as a fund accountant and had a spreadsheet for everything—whether it was finances, travel plans, or simply tracking the details of everyday life. His meticulous nature was a reflection of how deeply he cared about making things work smoothly for the people he loved.
Freddy found joy in the little things—whether it was savoring a good meal, taking a walk in the drizzle, or hiking to enjoy nature’s beauty. He was always on the move, whether riding his electric bike, kayaking, or engaging in any activity that kept him active and connected to the world around him. He loved to travel and explore different cultures, always eager to embrace new experiences. His love for soccer never faded; in fact, he shared his passion for the game with his son, Jayden, further deepening their special bond. Their favorite team, Bayern Munich, brought him endless excitement. With his daughter, Hope, Freddy happily embraced tea parties, playing dolls, or getting pedicures together, cherishing every moment with her.
Above all, Freddy cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in weekends with our children and in the quiet, meaningful moments spent together. Traveling with family, creating memories, and sharing laughter were among his greatest treasures. He was the purest, kindest soul, and our hearts are forever changed by his love.
Freddy is survived by his loving wife, Charis “Rebecca” Acheampong, and their two beautiful children, Jayden (14) and Hope (7). He leaves behind his devoted parents, Beauty Tsigbey and Edward Opoku-Acheampong, his cherished siblings, Rita and Gordon Acheampong, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends whose lives he touched in immeasurable ways.
Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on March 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a service to follow on March 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
