

Golda ‘Golde’ Kantor-Dorman was born to a family of survivors in a Displaced Person’s camp in Baden-Baden, Germany on June 4th, 1947 to Wolf and Regina Kantor. They emigrated to America through Ellis Island in 1948, settling in Brooklyn and then Queens, New York. Sister to Anne, Chaim and Eddie Kantor, and niece to Jita Miller.
She was an expert quilter and loved culture, art, music, theatre and mystery novels. Her first husband was filmmaker Eddie Gold, with whom she had son Andrew Nathaniel Gold. She and Eddie divorced in 1975 and she started working in corporate America as a single mother. In the 1980s she put herself through college at Queens College, while working full time, and being a single mother. As she worked her way up in a male-dominated industry, she was able to succeed at running teams of people.
In 1988, she met Andrew Dorman who was working in the financial industry. They married on September 9th, 1990, gaining a stepson with Harris. On March 4th, 2010, her granddaughter Lily Imogen Gold was born and the new chapter of her life started as an incredible grandmother, known as “Oma.” Golde devoted every moment of her life to Lily and Andy, to whom she was married for 34 years. She loved fiercely and was loved fiercely, and will be deeply missed.
A funeral service for Golda will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Schwartz Brothers-Jeffer Memorial Chapels, 114-03 Queens Boulevard, Forest Hills, NY 11375. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
