I was worried after not hearing from Jesse for a while and had left numerous messages and had not heard back. Jesse and I had been keeping in touch on a frequent basis since his parents took ill a few years back. I knew the Garbowitz family from Bayside Queens and we always kept in touch. I am very saddened to hear about Jesse dying at a young age. I know he had a rough time the last few years. He was a nice guy and I will miss him.

Jesse was my second cousin. We fell out of touch years ago. But some of my earliest memories are of Jesse, 19 years my senior, spending family gatherings playing with my sister and I. I remember the card games he taught us, and how he loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, even though they had been a lousy team for a long time. I remember his laugh, which was unlike any I have heard since. I always looked forward to seeing him.

In the last few days I got the strong urge to reach out to him. I wish that had happened. Today I am grieving his death.

I remember Jesse so fondly at family gathering when I was younger. He was always the cool adult that would play with the kids and really engage us and make us laugh hysterically. We loved spending time with him and those memories stay with me some 35 years later. Rest In Peace friend.

Jesse's mother would grieve today. She was a wonderful, kind woman. May Jesse's soul be elevated!
