Junia Oliansky, the beloved matriarch of her family, was 100 years young when she left us on May 17, 2024. Raised in Newburgh, New York, she left with her commercial diploma from Newburgh Free Academy to pursue a life of love, laughter, and learning in New York City. She married Sidney Oliansky in 1944, raised two daughters, and worked as a legal secretary. She enjoyed all of of the cultural amenities that New York offered, visiting museums, listening to classical music concerts, going on architectural walking tours, and attending many a Broadway matinee.
She spent her last years at Philadelphia's Watermark, where she served on the governing Council, curated changing art exhibits, organized video series, played bridge, and participated in as many of the Watermark's activities as possible. She lived life to the fullest, with grace and gusto, and laughed until the very end.
She will be missed by her sister Lenore, daughters Maxine Gaiber and Carol Deppen and son-in law Yisroel Meir Deppen, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, friends, and her Watermark buddies.
