Leona Goodman

Our dear mother, Leona Goodman, of Fresh Meadows, NY peacefully passed away on October 1, 2023. She was NYC born in 1926 to Ray and Hyman Kempner and was the beloved younger sister of Julius Kempner. She grew up on the Lower East side of Manhattan and spent wonderful summers in Rockaway Beach. It was there that she met and then married Herbert Goodman (1925-2006). They were happily married for 58 years and raised 3 loving sons in Queens, NY. Lee and Herb loved to spend time with their family and friends. They enjoyed traveling and taking cruises over the years.

Lee's family was everything to her...her love for us was endless and enduring. She leaves behind her three loving sons, Jules, Robert, and Andrew; her daughters-in-law Millicent and Susan; her beloved grandchildren, Michael, his wife Jessie and Hannah, and great-grandchildren, Isabel and Penelope.

Our mother loved playing cards, socializing, and seeing shows. But Lee's greatest delight was seeing the family seated around her table for holidays and special occasions. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend…she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rest peacefully with Dad, dear Mom. We love you.

A graveside service for Leona will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM at Montefiore Cemetery, 121-83 Springfield Boulevard, Springfield Gardens, NY 11413.
