Marie Warshaw

Marie Warshaw passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020. She was 94 years old. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marie was born and raised in Peekskill NY and was an only child. Her father, John Hartney, worked for Standard Oil and her mother, Nora Hartney, opened the first beauty parlor in Peekskill NY. Both her parents died prior to her meeting the love of her life, Richard.

Marie initially attended New Paltz Teachers College in New York but after her mother died she went to Katherine Gibbs School and worked in Manhattan as a secretary. Marie met her husband, Richard, when he came to her apartment to change the lock on her apartment door. Richard was a locksmith, licensed electrician and ran the family hardware store in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, NY. The store was started in 1925 by Richard’s father and continues to operate by two of her sons, Carl and Edward.

Richard and Marie were married in 1952 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in March 2012. They had a very happy marriage and were very close. Sadly Richard passed away shortly there after.

Marie is survived by her three sons: John, Carl and Edward, their wives Rachel, Mindy and Caroline, and her grandchildren Daniel, Benjamin, Megan, Sarah, Margot, Max and Madeline.
