

Ruth Kaplan, born on November 29th 1921 in Manhattan, peacefully passed in the early hours of May 20th, 2026 in Manhasset, New York. Ruth was 104 years old when she left this world and being surrounded by family in her final days she repeatedly expressed her appreciation of the wonderful life she had.
Born to her parents Matilda and Abraham Zipkin, Ruth grew up in Washington Heights, NY and attended Wadleigh High School in Manhattan. She later met her future husband Morris at a friend’s Valentine’s day party, and after getting married and moving continuously around the U.S. for Morris’ army detail, settled into the Glen Oaks, N.Y. apartment in 1948 where she would live until her passing. She passionately enjoyed their vacations together, especially through Europe, and recounted her special stories with Morris over and over and it was very clear how close and devoted they were to each other.
Ruth was also a passionate world traveler and explored every corner of the globe not only with Morris but with her closest friends, venturing from Europe to Asia to South America and everywhere in between.
Ruth was beloved and cherished by her family and friends and was a devoted key member of the National Council for Jewish Women. She was an avid canasta and Rummikub player, the latter in which she joined her friends in playing almost daily. She had an incredibly sharp memory and would remember every detail of the lives of all she loved.
Ruth leaves behind 104 years of unending cherished memories and a lasting legacy of love, virtue, kindness, and warmth. She is survived by her sons Lewis and his wife Elaine, and Stephen and his wife Nadia; her grandchildren Adam and his wife Karen, David, Charles and his wife Amy, Olivia and her husband Chris, and Ross; and great-grandchildren Jessica, Jordan, Mac and Chloe.
A funeral service for Ruth will be held at 11:30am at the Sinai Chapels, located at 114-03 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375.
A Committal Service will be held at Wellwood - Beth Moses Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, US, on May 24, 2026, from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
