Alanna Rose Kabatay

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alanna Rose Kabatay announce her passing on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario. Her family was by her side until the very end.

She was born on October 1, 1995 in Fort Frances, ON . She lived on the Seine River all of her life and loved being home. She worked at various jobs, always willing to help out were needed. She particularly enjoyed working with her Uncle Ed Rydoell. Alanna loved being outdoors and with nature; she fished, hunted, enjoyed boating, wild rice harvesting and picking blueberries. She adored her family and loved every moment spent with them. She enjoyed spending time with her pets Boomer, Molly, Waboose and Breezy.

Alanna leaves behind her parents Lila Blackjack and Bryan Kabatay; sister Twila Kabatay (Tim Smith); brothers Simon Kabatay, Dominic Blackjack and Travis (Chelsey) Blackjack; niece Kalistah Blackjack and nephew Travis Blackjack Jr.; aunts and uncles Linda (Raymond) Goodchild, Karen J. Kabatay, Cheryl (Kelly) Riley, Ava Kabatay, Michelle Kabatay, Tyrone Tenniscoe and Susie Lengil, Patrick Kabatay, Ava Kabatay, Michelle Kabatay, Stephanie Blackjack (Vernon Horton), Hannah (Frank) Blackjack, Edward Rydoell and Bill Allen Ferderber as well as a large extended family.

She was predeceased by her grandparents Leonard Whitecrow, Elsie Blackjack, Russell Tenniscoe and Lucy Kabatay; brother Derek Blackjack; sister Melanie Blackjack; aunt Tanya Blackjack and uncles Johnny, Ronnie and Leo Whitecrow.

A wake will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. at the Seine River First Nation Gymnasium with a traditional burial on Saturday April 9, 2016.

Elder Andrew Johnson will officiate with interment in the Seine River First Nation Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Edward Rydoell, Adrian Perrault, Simon Kabatay, Jeff Boshkaykin, Travis Blackjack and Dominic Blackjack.
