

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anne Humphrey, age 85, of 131 Elm Crescent, Atikokan, Ontario, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Anne was born December 27, 1927 in Claybank, Saskatchewan to the late Adam and Pauline Schermer. In earlier years Anne worked in Regina, Saskatchewan. During WWII, she met George Humphrey, and they were united in marriage soon after the war in 1949. That same year the family moved to Atikokan, Ontario where George worked at Steep Rock Iron Mine. Anne was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and the C.W.L. She was considered Mom to all the priests over the years and was loved by all the sisters of the C.W.L., and by her many friends. She was a great cook and enjoyed making meals for everyone. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Humphrey in 1994; her son, Wayne Humphrey and daughter-in-law, Linda Humphrey; granddaughter, Ida Humphrey; and sister, Pauline Harpauer.
Anne is survived by her son, Ken Humphrey of Sparwood, B.C.; daughter, Gloria (Larry) Byrne of Kamloops, B.C., grandson, Adam Humphrey; granddaughters, Laura and Shara Byrne, Carissa Humphrey, and Anna Kosolofski; great grandsons, Jacob and Tristian; brother-in-law, Orval (Diane) Humphrey of Logan Lake, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, Ontario. Father Elvis Odoeghbulem will officiate with interment in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan, Ontario.
Friends may visit Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. with parish prayers offered at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, Ontario.
Active pallbearers will be Rick Geurts, Adam Humphrey, Larry Byrne, Jacob Humphrey, Laura Byrne and Shara Byrne.
Should family and friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be to St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church – C.W.L.
