Anton "Tony" Jacyk

Tony was born on Wednesday, January 18, 1911 in Welyka Hlush, Ukraine to the late Unofrie and Polania Jacyk. He immigrated to Canada in 1926 and settled in the Rainy River District where he had lived since. He had worked for the Canadian National Railway and retired in January of 1970 as a Section Foreman. He was a member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Fort Frances.

He was predeceased by his wife Anna Bashuk in December of 2000 and his niece Eugenia Bashuk Karadontis in August of 2008.

Tony is survived by his family Elise Oliveira (Victor) of Vancouver, BC, Robert Karadontis (Shelly) of Duncan, BC, and Edward Karadontis (Jane) of North Vancouver, BC.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.

Visitation was held prior to the funeral service at Green Funeral Home.

Father Henry Lakusta officiated followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.

The pallbearers were Ron Patrick, Don Patrick, Robert Karadontis and Ed Karadontis
