He was born in Chicoutimi, Que. on Oct. 26, 1923.
As a young man, he travelled to Thunder Bay, where he met his future wife, Kirsti.
They got a summer job at Mudges Camp in Mine Centre in 1947. In 1955, they bought the resort and lived and worked there for about 45 years.
John was predeceased by his wife, Kirsti, in 2006 and his son, Dennis, in 2015.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Brenda; as well as many relatives in Quebec.
Cremation has taken place and, as John requested, there will be no service.
