Katie (Kay) Rogoza Graves

Katie was born on March 14, 1917 in Gardenton, Manitoba to William and Anastasia Rogoza. She was united in marriage to Harry Graves on October 31, 1937. Known to all the family as Baba; she was a gentle, loving woman who had incredible faith and a joyful disposition. Katie was stricken with polio as a young child but never let her paralysis in her left leg inhibit her in any way. She could always be found busy at something; tending to the children or grandchildren, weeding the large garden, keeping the house tidy, or cooking for family and friends. Her strength of character was a blessing to everyone who knew her just as she felt blessed by those close to her. Baba truly loved her time in the kitchen making perogies, cabbage rolls, and decorative breads for special occasions. She was relentlessly telling family to “Eat, eat, eat! You too skinny!”.

Katie was predeceased by her husband Harry on October 5, 1983; infant daughter Irene in 1942; son-in-law George Patrick on March 26, 1995; brothers Nick, Matt and John Rogoza and sister Mary Badiuk.

Baba will be greatly missed by her daughters Olga Patrick, Doreen Kabel (Neil); son Ed Graves (Karen) of Duncan, BC; brother Alex Rogoza (Rose), sister Anne Kacherowski; sister Verna Pierpoint (Harry), grandchildren Ron Patrick, Don Patrick (Laurie), Jason Kabel (Barb), Tara Hamilton (Scott), Christina Davis (Larry) Dana Gamble (Al), Leanna Graves; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Dr. Nugent for all his care and attention for Baba.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, Fort Frances, ON. Pastor Ken Johnson will officiate with interment in the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, ON. Pallbearers will be Katie’s grandchildren.

Friends may visit prior to the service.
