Louis Gilbert Jewell

Louis was born on September 7, 1930 in LaVallee, ON to Gilbert and Ella Jewell. As a young man he started his career at Kivel’s Garage in Emo then moving to Atikokan for a brief time before joining Newman Motors in May of 1950. He retired in September of 1994 from Voyageur Ford. He was united in marriage to Betty Hyatt on November 9, 1950 and together they raised 6 children. They were active members of the local square dancing club and enjoyed annual camping trips. He enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful items for the house and family.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty on April 7, 2017; parents Gilbert and Ella; in-laws Issac and Olive Hyatt; daughter-in-law Kim brother-in-law Allan; sister-in-law Verna Hyatt and grandson Timothy Jewell.

He will be greatly missed by his children Wayne (Vicki) of Fort Frances, ON, Terry of Forest, ON, Rick (Kathy) of Fort Frances, ON, Greg (Diane) of Fort Frances, ON, Angela (Darrell) Degagne of Fort Frances, ON and Cory (Jodi) of Fort Frances, ON; grandchildren Shanna (Travis) Weir, Heather (Dustin) Faragher, Adam Jewell, Ashlyn (Tyler Rooley) Jewell, Katlynn Jewell, Jodi (Matt Stewardson) Moore, Jaime (Charlie Vanderhoek) Moore, Elyssa (Eric) Minelly, Nicole (Brad) Hill, Marina Jewell, Brett Jewell, Christina (Teegan Doliwa)Jewell, Joey Jewell, Dawn (Jamie) Galusha, Jessica (Jeff) Ogden, Kyle (April) Degagne, Bailey Jewell, Jordin (Lindsay) Jewell, Emilee Jewell, Seth Jewell ; 19 great grandchildren; brother Arlo (Donna Boulley) Jewell as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating at a later date.
