Milton Glueheisen passed away on May 20, 2021 at LaVerendrye Hospital at the age of 99 years. He was born August 27, 1921 in Burnett County, Wisconsin to Ralph and Mabel Marsh. He attended both public and high school at Webster, Wisconsin. After high school, he moved to Clearwater Lake, Ontario with his mother and stepfather Bill Glueheisen. During this period of his life, he worked as a tourist guide and also for several mining companies prior to joining the services.

Milton served overseas with the 29th Battery, 11th Field Artillery Regiment in Holland, Belgium and Germany during World War II. It was during the war that he met Elizabeth Terris and they were married May 20, 1946 at Mure Memorial Church in Garrowhill, Glasgow, Scotland.

Elizabeth joined Milton in Canada in October, 1946 and they made their home at Clearwater Lake until 1948. They moved to Fort Frances and remained there all their lives. He dearly loved and was deeply devoted to her and joined her once again on what would have been their 75th wedding anniversary.

In Fort Frances, Milton worked for the Public Works for five years and then moved to the Rainy River Board of Education, working as a caretaker for thirty-three years. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #29.

Milton enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and their cabin at Rice Bay. He was always happy to be working in his garden at the cabin.

Milton is predeceased by his parents, his wife Elizabeth, son Lee Glieheisen, daughter-in-law Kimberly Glueheisen, granddaughter Jo-Anna Granholm, brother and sister-in-law Murtis and Mary Marsh, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward and Cathie Terris.

He is survived by his sons Larry (Shirley), Leonard (Janice) and Lance (Jamie), daughter-in-law Donna Glieheisen and eight grandchildren Tara (Ed) Pitre, Kyle (Andrea) Glieheisen, Jennifer (Joey Payeur) Soderholm, Jonathan (Lisa) Glueheisen, Tammy (Barry Giles) Glueheisen, Len Glueheisen, Chris (Jennifer) Glueheisen and Michael (Nicole) Glueheisen. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren Brayden Spence, Riley, Tanner and Gracin Glueheisen, McKenna and Madison Soderholm, Soleil and Sterling Pitre, Jonah and Briar Glueheisen, Hailey Glueheisen, and Everly Glieheisen, as well as many nieces and nephews in the U.S.

A private family service for Milton will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 at Green Funeral Home with Pastor Trevor Martin officiating followed by burial in the Riverview Cemetery beside his beloved Elizabeth.
