After a long courageous battle with cancer, our family sadly announces the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, at the age of 74 years, on Saturday, May 18, 2013. She past peacefully and began her journey to the spirit world and was welcomed by her loving husband Oscar Daniel; beautiful daughters, Julie Marie, Doris Jeanette; and her very special grandson, Desmond Lee.
Roseanne is survived by her son, James Daniel (Debby); daughters, Josephine (Steven), Verna (Tony), Debbie (Domenic); 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother Tommy Medicine; sister Jean Bombay; numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and outlaws (spouses and ex’s), many adopted children and grandchildren, and her cats and dogs.
Roseanne loved her life and cherished all her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. They bought her so much joy and happiness, and she would beam from ear to ear when she saw them. She was g-ma to everybody.
Roseanne was united with the love of her life, Oscar Daniel Leonard on November 29, 1955. Roseanne, in her younger years, enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, raising her family and finally found her passion in bus driving. She loved each and every child that boarded her bus as if they were her own (and in her heart, they were). She always gave them special treats on Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. Roseanne loved her job as the bus driver and retired with good memories of all her kids. After she retired, she became a bus driver for her grandsons (G-mas cab as she called it) and would drive them to work every day, she loved it. She always had a special place in her heart for all her grandsons.
Her loving, kindness, compassion and generosity as a strong Anishinabe woman will be sadly missed by many. We will always love and miss you. Go, journey on that beautiful white horse with daddy.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and Dr. Jenks at Riverside Health Care Facilities for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation celebrating her life, will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Manitou Rapids Gymnasium at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. with interment at the Church Hill Cemetery. Reverend Frances Flook will officiate, with a special prayer by Gilbert Smith and Willie Wilson.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Daeton Andru Jamieson, Aaron James, Daniel James, James Guy, James Allen, Domenico Rocco (Mico), Zachary Charles and Steven Lawrence.
Honourary pallbearers will be, Douglas Horton Sr., Calvin Bombay Jr., Ben Brown Jr., Gordon Medicine, Domenico Servello Sr., Steven Markewich, Anthony Bombay and Terry Pickard.
