Therese Bruneau quietly slipped away after a short illness on Nov. 11th @ her home in Rainycrest at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Bruneau, her son Claude Bruneau and was the last of her own five siblings. Born in rural Manitoba, she was educated as a nurse in Manitoba and came to Fort Frances to work in her chosen profession. Here she met Albert and was soon married and produced four children: Jeannette DeGagne (Melvin) of Fort Frances, Rose Cousineau of San Jose, California, Edward Bruneau (Linda) of Thunder Bay and Claude Bruneau (now deceased). Grandchildren are Bryan DeGagne (Paula) of Alberta, Rheal DeGagne (Wendy), Denise Hedlund (Rickard) of Winnipeg, Nicole Bowen (Ryan) of Kenora, Corey Cousineau (Natalie), Laureen Peters(Andy), Katherine Frape (Justin) of Thunder Bay, and Amanda Maxwell (Robin) of Walkerton. Great grandchildren are Kaitlyn, Chelsey, Evan, Madisyn, Maighyn, Lucas, Gabriel, Sullivan, Hazel, Sierra, Peyton, Lynden, Lennox, Malcolm, and Hannah and a Great-great grandson Cohen.
Therese loved to be surrounded by people and flourished in her two years in Riverside Healthcare, Rainycrest as a result. Through her whole life, she took great personal pleasure in giving to others in the form of many small acts of kindness. Her consistent warm, positive attitude towards everyone made her well liked and stand out in the crowd. All of her time was spent fulfilling the needs of her family. Her humble approach to life was clearly evident and appreciated by her family and all those she touched.
In respect of her wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no graveside funeral service. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. If desired, donations may be made to the Rainycrest Auxillary in her memory.
