Albina O’mara, 90 2/25/1934 - 9/12/2024 Born Albina Piazza on February 25, 1934 to Sicilian immigrants Salvatore and Rosalie Piazza in Hackensack N.J. The youngest of 4 sisters, a child of the Great Depression, World War II, and the Korean War. Albina would go on to be know as “Babe”, later Babe Micali after she married John Micali on October 23, 1955. Babe possessed incredible talent and flair for the fabulous in cooking, decorating, and fashion. She worked at Buttoni, Vera 5th Avenue, and Neiman Marcus. Rumor has it that Martha Stewart actually learned from her. Her love of food and entertaining was legendary, excelling in all things cooking and baking, but always timed perfect and with an amazing table setting. Her epic chicken cutlets enjoyed by her family and friends for decades, are often emulated but never duplicated. Babe’s life was a love filled and joyous journey, adored by her family, children, grand children, nieces and nephews. Blessed to have not one, but two great marriages. After 31 years of marriage, the love of her life, John Micali, passed away in 1983. Babe later married Tom O’mara in 1987, also a widower, in a God-destined unity, and became “Ali O’mara”. The two lived blissfully together in Surfside and Pompano Beach for 20 years. Babe was widowed once more in 2007. Babe is survived by her 3 children, Donna Hodio (Nick), Susan Golden, and John Micali (Laura), seven grandchildren, Taryn, Tori, Terry, Jonathon, Kaitlyn, Brandon and Mason, many nieces and nephews, and the latest light of her life, Logan, her great-grandson. Babe leaves a legacy of love, always giving unconditional love to her family and being the generous and joyous matriarch.
