Alyson Crouch Hardin, a beloved wife, mother, and devoted leader in her community, tragically died on July 4, 2025, due to the devastating floods in Kerr County, Texas. She was at the family's vacation home in Hunt, Texas, with her husband, Bill Hardin, and their daughter, Josephine Hardin, when the river crested above the two-story house collapsing the structure. Josephine also perished in the flood.
Alyson was born in Houston and was proud of her Texas roots tied to the Hill Country including Fredericksburg and Austin. Alyson was an alumna of the University of the South at Sewanee, graduating in 1982 and later served as a trustee for many years. Alyson was a life-long learner and attended SAIS at Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC and Bologna and Georgia State University earning additional graduate degrees and the CFP designation. She was also an alumna and former counselor at Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, a place that held special memories for her and her daughter, Josephine, also a Camp Mystic alumna and counselor. Alyson’s sisters also attended the camp and served as counselors.
A respected figure in her professional life, Alyson began her career in financial services with the Citizens & Southern Bank in Atlanta where she worked in the International and Private Banking divisions. In Florida she worked as a financial advisor for Equitable Advisors. Her leadership extended into her faith community, where she served as the senior warden of All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was a significant leader in her diocese for many years.
Alyson took pride in her engagement with Team in Training supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was an excellent fundraiser and participated in marathons in the US and Europe in addition to doing the Nation’s Triathlon and other similar events. Alyson was also a fantastic cook and hostess and took pride in preparing dinners for friends and family.
Alyson is survived by her husband, Bill Hardin, and two sisters and their families: Jennifer Crouch Ellis, husband Steve, and nephews Robert and Matthew, and Kimberly Crouch, husband Steve Brown, and niece Amelia and nephew Asa. She also leaves behind an extended family whom she loved and enjoyed, and a community deeply saddened by her sudden passing and that remembers her for her leadership, dedication, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her cultivation of friends, straight talk, and “get up and get it done” attitude changed those around her.
The Celebration of Life Service for Alyson and Josephine Hardin will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:30 am at All Saints Episcopal Church at 333 Tarpon Drive in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It will be followed by a reception at First Presbyterian Church, immediately adjacent to All Saints.
