

Amie Elizabeth Bennett was born on July 14, 1936 in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. She was the eldest of Arturo Brown and Eugenia Bennett’s nine children. At the young age of 14, Amie took on the responsibility of helping to provide for her younger siblings. She began to accomplish this goal by working as a pharmaceutical assistant for many years in Costa Rica.
In 1962, she relocated to New York City and found a more lucrative job to better help the family. While in New York, she gave birth to her three children. Soon thereafter, Amie started work as a Nursing Assistant at the State University of New York’s Medical Center and later relocated with her children to Providence, RI. While there she worked at Tockwotton nursing home as a nursing assistant for 35 years. She worshiped at Women’s Aglow Fellowship and also volunteered her time at Providence Assembly of God’s Soup Kitchen. She finally retired when she was 70 working hard 56 years of her life. Her dedication and perseverance was evident in all aspects of her work, personal life and the community she served.
Throughout her life, Amie has been a responsible daughter, sister and mother. She exuded love, kindness and care to all persons with whom she came in contact. Generosity, tenderness and a loving spirit have been a common denominator in all her relationships.
Amie Elizabeth passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 8:20 in the morning. She has left to mourn her three children: Reynold(New York), Sharron(Florida) and Alexis Edwards (Rhode Island), her three grandchildren: Terrence and Traci Dixon and Selvin Edwards, her surviving siblings and brother-in-law: Alexander and Elena Bennett (Costa Rica), Rubina and Ernesto Claxton (Costa Rica), Osmond Brown (New York), Clare Pereira (Florida) and Winston Brown (Costa Rica), her dear cousin Almira Small (Florida) and many other family members and loved ones. She is predeceased by her brothers Delbert Bennett, Fernando Brown, Milton Brown.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South in Davie, Florida. The burial will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery 11411 NW 25th St, Miami, Florida 33172. Amie will truly be missed.
