Betty was born on October 23, 1952 in Miami Fl. Betty was raised in Fort Lauderdale. As a young girl Betty spent her summers with her brother, Steve, at their aunt and uncle's farm in Live Oak, FL and their grandparents farm in Elm City, North Carolina.
Betty spent her college years at Tennessee Tech College. This is where she found a love for traveling with friends especially traveling with her father.
Betty traveled to Colorado where she met her husband Michael. Betty married Michael and they settled part time in Colorado where they welcomed a baby girl, Ashlee Catherine as she lovingly called, Chochee. Mike and Betty eventually moved to Ft Lauderdale full time; as Betty didn't love the cold, but mostly missed her parents.
Betty enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, attending horse races dressed to the tee and never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. She had a wild side but with amazing grace.
When Betty lost her parents 8 days apart she was never quite the same and began to embrace her Catholic religion. However, Betty found a new joy for life once her grandson, Jayden, was born. Ashlee and Jayden lived with Betty for many years. "Nana" and her "big boy" Jayden shared a special bond. During this time, Ashlee took exceptional care of her mother with much devotion and patience.
Betty was always up for an adventure, loved getting the "scoop" and made the ones she loved feel like the most important people in the world.
And her biggest love..... baseball! Betty loved her Florida Marlins until her final days. Please take a moment at the next game you watch to remember Betty and her amazing strength.
Betty will be missed dearly by so many including Michael, her daughter Ashlee and grandson Jayden. Her brother, Steve, and his children Corey, Christina and Calli. Her baseball boys, Grant and Weston Carmann, (and their mom Marsha, Marsha, Marsha), the Reyhr family, the Roydhouse family and her many friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents James and Alice Lewis.
