Early Life and Education
Born on October 29, 1948, in the poetic city of Jérémie, Haiti, Carmin was the beloved child of Delansdes Appolon and Ritha Joseph Appolon. He received his primary education from the Catholic School Saint Louis and continued his secondary studies at the High School Saint Louis de Jeremie. Later, he attended the Lycée Toussaint Louverture in Port -au Prince where he completed his last year of high school.
From an early age, Carmin displayed an insatiable curiosity and a deep passion for learning. His teachers, impressed by his ease in mathematics, encouraged him to pursue civil engineering. Yet Carmin chose a different path- the path of medicine- driven by a profound desire to heal. He attended the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Port-au-Prince, where his determination and discipline distinguished him among his peers. He graduated in 1976 (Class of Jean Price Mars 1969-1976), earning the admiration of classmates and professors alike. They fondly recall his long nights of study and his readiness to help others- an early reflection of his generous spirit and lifelong devotion to service.
Medical Career and Immigration
Dr. Appolon began his medical career at Justinien Hospital in Cap-Haitian, serving vulnerable communities with compassion and skill. One elderly patient, who had traveled a long distance to see him, once said she had never met such an attentive doctor. Her words, echoed by many others, captured the profound impact Carmin had on countless lives.
In pursuit of broader opportunities to serve, Dr Appolon earned the credentials to practice medicine in the United States. In 1978, he immigrated to the US, embracing new challenges with courage and perseverance. Through the transition was not without hardships, he never waived in his calling. To his loved ones, he often said that every obstacle was an opportunity to learn and grow.
A Legacy of Service
Dr. Appolon’s professional accomplishments were matched only by his extraordinary personal qualities. He was more than a physician; he was a confidant, mentor, and friend. Colleagues remember how he often stayed after hours reviewing cases with young doctors eager to learn. His thoughtful guidance helped shape many careers and his encouragement uplifted all who sought his counsel.

Devotion to Family and Loved Ones

He celebrated birthdays, graduations, and simple family gatherings—with enthusiasm and love, making each moment meaningful. In times of sorrow, he offered comfort and strength reminding all of the enduring of togetherness.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maag Augustin Appolon; his devoted children, Karthilde , Carmin Jr. (and spouse Robin) , Giovanni , Thiery , Kelith, Jonathan his bonus children, Alain , Vanessa and Regine ; his grandchildren, Alayna, Sean, Casyn and Taylor; as well as his sister, Nativita Jean Louis, brother-in-law, Raoul Jean-Louis; his mother in law, Yvonne Dabasse Jeudy, his brother in law, sister in law ,daughter-in-law, aunt, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, great-cousins, godchildren, and all extended family members.
Each of these loved ones carries a part of his spirit, a living reminder of his boundless and generosity.
As we mourn the loss of Dr Carmin Elie Appolon, we also celebrate a life that continues to inspire. His spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the wisdom he shared, and the compassion he embodied.
Dr Appolon will forever remain in our hearts. His legacy of compassion, integrity, and love endures as a guiding light to all who knew him.
