Dorcas Rivera

Dorcas was born in Manhattan, New York in April 1969 to Minelba Rodriguez and Pastor Enrique Rivera. Pastor Enrique became ordained minister in the same year Dorcas was born; this meant the world to Dorcas.

She is survived by her husband Roberto and their children Roberto III, Sophia and Alanis; her children meant everything. She is also survived by her mother Minelba and her siblings Eunice, Misael, Ivette, Miriam and Henry and her nephews and nieces; she loves them all.

Dorcas obtained a Bachelor Degree in Science with a major in Chemical Engineering and worked for many years in the pharmaceutical industry. She gave up her career to embrace a different career: her role as the mother of her children, this was her passion and where her heart was.

Dorcas was an excellent daughter, sister, wife, mother, and person. She was a woman of faith and her actions spoke louder than her sweet voice.

She was a natural leader at the church where her father was a pastor but blossomed as a leader in college in the Christian organization “Hermandad Colegial de Avivamiento”, University of PR in Mayaguez and later in life at church as a Sunday Bible school teacher, where she taught kids, and she also became a Youth Leaders together with her husband Roberto. Dorcas was very passionate in teaching children (including her own) the Word of God.

Dorcas Rivera went to the Lord on September 12th, 2021 in a hospital near her home in Parkland, FL after an illness but she will live in our hearts forever.

A visitation for Dorcas will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308, followed by a funeral service from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
