Fabian was born in Indio, CA to Joe B. Lopez and Aurora Acosta on April 3, 1966. He graduated from Indio High School. He went on to graduate from University of California San Francisco Medical School and then did his residency in Alameda County, CA. Fabian had a passion for the beaches, climate and the diverse lifestyle of Miami to where he moved in 2000. It was here that Fabian made meaningful, lasting relationships both in work and his personal life. Fabian married Victor Klingshirn on September 18, 2014, in San Rafael, CA. He continued working in private practice as a Medical Doctor in association with Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach for about 20 years. He then transitioned into working independently as a Hospitalist through Open Source Medical Doctor (OSMD) in 2017. During this time, he worked in various towns in multiple states so that he can be more flexible with his schedule to be available to care for his aging mother. Fabian had always been close with his family, but it was when he moved back to California, in 2018, that he was able to reconnect more meaningfully with them, for which he treasured the many new memories created. It has been said that since moving to California, his home was the open door that was considered the central hub for daily visits and major gatherings that brought the whole family together. Fabian was passionate about his career. He always helped those in need and never shut the door anyone. He was compassionate with his bedside manner, whether you were a patient, friend or family member. He always listened and came through for everyone. Fabian went beyond the call of duty when he was tasked with being your doctor. He treated everyone as if they were family. Colleagues considered him a trustworthy source of knowledge. In conjunction with his medical knowledge, his life experiences and his ability to think outside of the box is what made his medicine truly an artform. You were in blessed hands when you came to Dr. Lopez. Fabian was a true friend indeed. He was there when you needed anything, but he was always ready for a party too. He loved to dance, whether on the beach, in the club or in every room in the house. It was a rare year, if you didn't see him in a uniquely designed Halloween costume; which he loved to do.
Fabian had achieved many things in life that he was able to pass on to the future; his medical knowledge to numerous medical providers, and his passion for doing things right for everyone. Equally important, he created adoring, loving, and joyous relationships with his family, friends and colleagues which will continue through all that knew him.
