Francis W. (Bob) Lucas, 84 of Southwest Ranches, FL: Francis W. Lucas, 84, passed away Feb. 22 after a brief illness. A hotelier and horseman, Mr. Lucas owned and operated the Suez Resort in Miami Beach, and was a founding member of the Sunny Isles Beach Resort Association. Mr. Lucas also owned Lucas Farm of Ocala, which stood stallions such as GateDancer and Glitterman. He was active in the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association, and served on the board of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company. Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; their daughter, Loretta Lucas of Ocala, and their son, Robert Lucas and his wife Patti of Davie, and three grandchildren: Garrett Lucas, Andrea Lucas, and Robert Lucas. Funeral Mass will be held Friday 2/26, 12:00 noon at St. Mark's Cathedral, 5601 South Flamingo Rd, Ft. Lauderdale, with viewing from 3:30-7:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South, 2401 SW 64 Ave in Davie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Gold Coast Guild, 11880 Ashford Ln, Davie, FL 33325.
