Francois Muller Pierre-Jacques was born on March 23, 1927, to Mr. Josaphat Pierre-Jacques and Mrs. Anna Jean-Gilles in Hinche, Haiti. As the second of four children he was the protector of his older sister Fernande and a role model to his younger siblings Maude and Guy. Muller completed his elementary education in Hinche. He continued his education in Port-au-Prince at l’ecole Odeide followed by Lycee Petion, and l’ecole Normale Instituteur. While at l’ecole Normale Instituteur he found an opportunity to return to Hinche and studied to become an x-ray technician. Continuing his work as an x-ray technician, Muller was transferred to Port-au-Prince, Cap Haitian, and Gonaives.
In Gonaives, Muller met his future bride Marie-Therese Benoit at a birthday party given in honor of her mother. She affectionately called him Micou and he lovingly called her Toye. After Muller and Marie-Therese married on May 4, 1957, they moved to Hinche, Haiti where he continued his career as an x-ray technician. As an x-ray technician in a small town, Muller often filled the role of a doctor assisting Dr. Joseph with surgical procedures and giving injections.
In 1967, Muller joined his beloved wife in the United States to continue building a strong foundation for the family. Their children Charles Frantz, Paule Linda, and Henri Muller reunited with the couple in 1971. Guy-Robert and Nola remained in Haiti with their mother.
Muller worked as an x-ray specialist at University Hospital of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 1992, he retired from the hospital to travel and enjoy his family. Those who love Muller refer to him as an honest, simple, helpful, and caring individual with a great sense of humor. Muller did not like to inconvenience or be a burden to anyone, so he often shied away from situations that required too much effort. Muller loved to take long walks, travel, entertain his family and friends as well as catch up with nieces, nephews, and friends met during worldwide travels.
After a short battle with lung cancer, God allowed His faithful servant to rest peacefully in His arms and called him home on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Muller’s kindness and love will be greatly missed.
