Gaspar was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, to Ana Celia Bultron and Vicente Garcia on January 7, 1946. He moved to the Bronx, New York, in 1953 and attended Charles Evans Hughes High School, graduating in 1963. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Bronx Community College, his Executive MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1977, and later received his Ph.D. in Economics from Rutgers University.
On August 8, 1982, Gaspar married the love of his life, Evelyn Teresa “Terry” Garcia, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in faith, family, and service.
Although he was an accomplished scholar, Gaspar found his true calling in ministry. He was ordained as a pastor on November 5, 2000, and faithfully led The Church of Divine Grace in Davie, Florida, for 28 years, providing spiritual leadership, biblical teaching, and heartfelt counsel to hundreds of families. Through his ministry, he touched countless lives—officiating weddings, comforting the grieving, teaching weekly Bible study, and writing a monthly newsletter known as The Good News Letter. He was also the author of two faith-based books focused on Christian spiritual growth: Building Blocks for Relationships and The Carpenter’s Toolbox for Repairing the Broken Man.
Rev. Gaspar Garcia lived his life with quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a deep love for others. He led with humility and truth, embodying the very teachings he preached. Whether he was counseling a young couple, teaching the Word of God in his living room, or writing about relationships rooted in Christ, Gaspar did everything with the heart of a servant and the wisdom of a shepherd.
His own walk with the Lord was shaped and strengthened by the guidance and example of faithful spiritual leaders, including Pastors John McCave, Vince Finnegan, Chuck Cumella, and Joe Aguayo. Their mentorship and teachings helped form the biblical foundation on which Gaspar built his ministry and his life.
He was a man of deep compassion and integrity. His laughter could fill a room. His prayers lifted spirits. His words left lasting imprints on those he encountered. Above all, he loved God and his family with every breath.
Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy will continue to bear fruit through the many lives he touched and the seeds of faith he planted.
His memory will live on—through his teachings, his family, and the enduring love he gave so freely. We rejoice in knowing he is at peace awaiting the Lord he so faithfully served.
Gaspar is preceded in death by his beloved son, Gaspar Vincent Garcia, Jr.
