Mrs. Gloria Petrona Collins

Gloria Petrona Collins, age 88, of Margate and Deerfield Beach, Florida went home to eternal rest on May 10, 2024. Born on August 1, 1935 in St. Mary, Jamaica, Gloria was a devoted wife and loving mother, sister, aunt and daughter. She emigrated with her husband and first-born child to Toronto, Ontario in the late 1960s. She held multiple Bachelor's Degrees and a Master's Degree, and flourished in her long career as a Registered Nurse in three countries: Jamaica, Canada and finally, the US, after the family emigrated to South Florida in the mid 1980s.

To see Gloria in life was to know grace. Throughout her career, Gloria made significant contributions in healthcare and education and was honoured and acknowledged for her many achievements. Gloria is known for her great love of music which began at an early age singing in the church choir as a young girl in Jamaica. She was in service to God and others in song, in her deeds and in her thoughtfulness.

Gloria is preceded in this journey home by far too many loved ones including her mother ‘Miss Dine’, Walter, her husband of 51 years; and by her siblings Laughton, Edgar and Egbert. Gloria is survived by three daughters, Orinthia, Deon and Vivianne; and siblings Hyacinth, Thelma, Ruby, Verona and Aaron.

A visitation for Gloria will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home *in the Pyramid* at 2401 Southwest 64th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.

A funeral service will take place immediately after, also on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the same location.

Gloria's committal service will occur Friday, May 24, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at *Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South - Pyramid*, 2401 Davie Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.

A memorial celebration service for Gloria will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Coral Springs 2251 Riverside Dr., Coral Springs, FL 33065.

The family asks that no flowers are sent.
