

James Arthur Baker died on June 14, 2014 in the Imperial Point Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from complication of C.O.P.D. and pneumonia. He was born January 21, 1920 to Viola and James Baker in Riverton, Washington. As a very young child, he excelled in music. At the age of 7, he was well on his way to becoming an accomplished pianist. During high school, he played in nightclubs earning more money then his father. After high school, James was presented with a daunting realization of WWII.
As a young adult, James enlisted (1941) in the Army Air Force during WWII. During his time in the military, James was presented with the Presidential Citation, and many other medals of bravery. He spent time in North Africa, Foggia Italy, and other countries in Europe. James was proud of his service during wartime. After his time in the military, James continued with his music.
He began playing the piano in many nightclubs. Eventually he became a nightclub owner. James went on to venture into many other businesses. He lived in Anchorage Alaska for 35 years. There he also owned 3 supper clubs, the largest music store, along with a Travelodge. He also was president of a bank, and a Rotarian for 50 years. Once his business career was over, he moved to Chula Vista, CA. There he met his lifetime partner Michael J. Webb of 19+ years.
He spent 17 years living in Chula Vista, CA before moving to Pompano Beach, FL. During his time in Florida, he started bowling. His last two years, he bowled 3 times a week, played dominos, engaging in dinner parties, and enjoying life.
He is survived by his life partner Michael J. Webb, (brother) Roger Emmett Baker, and by his (sister) Ramona Estabrook.
James lived a great life, and loved all. If you were one of the lucky ones to have known him, you were blessed with his presence. All will miss him.
