

John was born on November 9, 1938, and he truly left a beautiful mark on the world with his intelligence, warmth, and generous spirit. As a respected Professional Engineer and a beloved professor, he poured his heart into teaching and inspiring others. His legacy is one filled with integrity, curiosity, and kindness, impacting everyone around him.
John cherished his family immensely. He is survived by his wonderful wife, Sonja, and his devoted son Scott and daughter-in-law Susan. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Heather and Jetter, as well as his grandchildren: Desiree, Adrianna, Darren, Brandy, Mason, Riggs, Kayla, Olivia, and Sophia. Each of their lives was brightened by his wisdom, humor, and endless love.
John was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie.
John was born in Philadelphia, PA, where he grew up sharing his love for music as a young singer at venues like Carnegie Hall. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University before going on to get his master’s from Nova University. With an impressive 40 years of experience as a Professional Engineer, he’s not only contributed several design and processing patents but also spent 25 years inspiring students as a math and engineering professor.
John moved to Florida in the late 1960s and has called South Florida his home ever since. He enjoyed spending time fishing on his boat, playing golf and tennis. In his free time, he loved to dine out and sing karaoke with friends and family. John loved his late night trips with Sonja to Dairy Queen and Krispy Kreme. John cherished gathering with loved ones to share music, laughter, and stories whenever the opportunity arose.
He will be remembered for his sharp mind, gentle heart, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His warmth, generosity, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family is requesting a donation be made in John’s honor to the Pinion Organization Benefiting Special Olympics.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, 5555 N Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL. 33308, Saturday October 25th, 2025, at 11:00 am.
