Born on June 7, 1935 in Waco, Texas, he was the son of John D. Evans Sr. and Hazel Evans. He attended Baylor University before serving 20 years in the United States Coast Guard. After retiring, John opened an appliance repair shop and would later start acquiring rental properties with his wife, Elsa.
He is survived by his sons John D. Evans III (Camilla), Eugene Evans (Tara), daughter Michelle Jahrmarkt (Cliff), Grandchildren Stephanie, Ashley, Leelah, Gavin, Grant, Gregory, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Elsa B. Evans, and sisters Rita Jo Lee and Neva Ann Risavich.
Funeral Service and burial will be held at 12:30pm on January 4, 2026 at Forest Lawn, 2401 Davie Road Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33317 .
