Clint was a "green" person through and through. He had great interest in urban gardens, rooftop gardens, LEED certified buildings, sustainable communities, and a myriad of things most landscape architects never dream about. He realized that precious few tropical or subtropical landscape architects are trained and was passionate about making himself the best he could be.
Just as he strove for perfection professionally, so did he in his religious life. His work with small groups at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale was an inspiration to us all. For those suffering familial, economic or other difficulties, veterans with PTSD, and others who needed only a kind word, a smile, open ears and heart, Clint was steady, compassionate, generous, patient and kind. He had great concern for those less fortunate and tried to help whenever he could. His knowledge and deep understanding of biblical verses and principals made him a natural small group leader.
Clint was a man you could call and converse with, picking up the conversation precisely where you left off last time, even if it was from 2 years ago. He was an insightful colleague, a good writer and efficient compiler. I will certainly miss him.

My family lived next door to the Grethens in Miami for many, many years. (Walter and Virginia Davis)
I have fond memories of all the neighborhood kids playing ball, hide and seek and many more games since we were outside constantly.
My condolences to Clinton’s sisters and family.

I met Clint in 1980 at LSU. We were in the same program and did quite a lot together -tennis, school work, running around. Since then, we kept in touch. He was always very interesting and full of knowledge and information and ideas. Great guy, great sense of humor and good friend!

I knew Clint when I was working for the City of Oakland Park. He and I worked on a grant together to beautify the entry of the Lakeside Sand Pine Preserve. He had a keen understanding of natural plant communities, and really liked Sand Pine Preserve. He was so knowledgeable and worked at Broward County for many years. He will be greatly missed.

I first met Clint many years ago when I still worked for Broward County’s tree preservation program. He was kind, passionate about the environment and was always willing to help anytime you asked for it. My condolences to his family during this challenging time.

Working with Clint all those years what stands out is his gentle nature and kindness - so easy to talk to and always available to help. A true old school gentleman. He was knowledgable about almost everything and we had many continuing conversations, real conversations. Plus, that playful mischievous glint in his eyes!
Rest in Peace my friend

Clint was always so helpful and knowledgeable about native landscaping for habitat restoration. He never hesitated to help me whenever I called on him for advice with landscape designs, plant selection, tree identification and informational resources. He was always jovial, kind, friendly and gregarious when we would speak or when he’d visit my office. I will miss you, Clint. You were one of the good ones.

Clint was a kind man who I enjoyed seeing everyday in the office. He attended LSU to study landscape architecture; I was also a student in that program a few years earlier than Clint. We shared stories about the LSU faculty and arduous all nighters in the design studio.
We both liked kimchee (Korean pickled vegetables in case you don't know.)
Clint, we will miss you. Rest in peace,

So, so sorry to hear of the passing of Clint last week. I met Clint when I worked for Broward County Environmental Protection about 10 years ago. We had many great talks and had some common interests.
Clint was a real bright guy and he always provided me with great sources to read. Clint educated me on some conspiracy theories which were / are fascinating!
I will always miss Clint as I enjoyed his friendship.
Rest in peace Clint. One of the good guys!

Clint was a sweet man, and a good friend. He was an accomplished landscape architect, planting many trees throughout Broward County. I enjoyed many laughs and long talks with Clint, and I will miss spending my mornings at work with him, arguing about politics, discussing green infrastructure, or listening to his many stories. We ate way too much indian food together and bonded over our love of animals; he loved Spanky his dog, his constant companion.
Clint was a gentle giant.Albert Schweitzer wrote that man is an extension of life around him, Clint had a passion to plant, for nature & people. Gone way too soon and mourned by many.
