

Joseph “Joe” A. Cenami, 40, of Plantation, passed away on September 20, 2023 in Sunrise, after succumbing to a twelve-year battle of brain cancer. He never complained about his condition and fought the battle like the warrior he was. He was grateful for each day; always having something to smile about. His greatest joy came one beautiful Friday afternoon in February, 2017, with the birth of his son Joseph Edmund. Of all of the life experience Joe endured, the day he became a father was truly the greatest day of his life.
Joe was born Hollywood, Florida to Robert Joseph “RJ” Cenami and Dorothy Lyn Trudel on January 12, 1983. He went to school at South Broward High School. He married Tracy Ann Lyons on June 20, 2015 in Plantation. He graduated from Strayer University with a BA. He worked for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and thereafter as a Project Repair Manager for Bentley Roofing for five years. He was a veteran of Operation Iraq Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Medic and was awarded Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, 2nd award, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Medical Badge, and Parachutist Badge. He received an Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant from the United States Army and was awarded a 100% disability from the VA).
Joe is preceded in death by his father, RJ Cenami and his maternal grandparents Dorothy J, Trudel Jones and Albert F. Trudel and his paternal grandparents Maria Josephine Cenami Memoli and Rocco Cenami.
Joe is survived by his wife Tracy, his one and only loving son, Joseph Edmund Cenami, his mother Dorothy Lyn Trudel and loving Step-Father Richard P. Brown, brother Jason E. Cenami, sister Alexis Cenami Gismondi and her husband Adam and niece Josephine Ivy Gismondi, brother-in-law James F. Lyons and sister in-law April Pezza, and his beloved dog Nala.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be from 3-6 pm, Saturday, September 30; 2023, Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Davie, Florida 33317
The family of Joseph wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Memorial Regional Cancer Institute, Vitas Hospice Care, Father Augustine of St. Gregory Catholic Church and Joseph’s lifelong best friend, Mr. Justin Serian, who cared for Joe until his last day.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Joseph “Joe” A. Cenami.
