Jules Jerome, the son of Gracia Jerome and Joseph Zephir, born on October 19th, 1939 in Fonds des Blancs, Haiti grew up in Fonds des Nègres where he went to school until his in early adult life when he moved to Port-au-Prince and worked as Departmental Coordinator of the SNEM (National Program to Eradicate Malaria) and later as a member of the Association of Tourist Guides of Haiti.
Jules immigrated to Montreal Canada in 1974 and later moved to the United States where he established his residency in Connecticut. He quickly learned English and worked his way from a taxi driver to become the owner of a small limousine company.
Jules, a hard-working man, focused on his family and his community. He will be remembered as loving, with arms outstretched and ready to welcome you; generous, always committed to help a family or a friend in need; honorable, grounded in his beliefs and as a “gate keeper” who managed to get several members of the family to migrate either to Canada, France, the United States, and French Guyana.
Julius was to many a father, friend, brother, advisor, and uncle, as well as a resourceful person that you could go to for comfort or a solution in any circumstances. He enjoyed life and could always go for a good drink, political conversation, or hilarious joke. He loved the Lord and praised Him faithfully, serving as a prominent member of the Great Lodge of Haiti, and founding member of many chapters among them “Restoration No. 16 of Connecticut”. He was a true Free Mason.
On Thursday, February 4th in the comfort of the nursing home, far from his family and friends, he got the call to rejoin our Father and went on to be with The Lord.
A hard-working, spiritual, and faithful man, Jules' work continues as an angel looking over his loved ones.
Our beloved Jules is survived by his children Catherine Porter, Myriam Gabrielle Jerome, Angela Batt, Pierre Evans, and Lelio Jean; sister, Juliana Jerome; numerous nephews, nieces and good friends.
Our Father, Brother, and Uncle Jules will be missed, but in this painful moment let us remember the teaching of his life and as he always repeated “Have faith in God who is in you”.
Jules will be dearly missed.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnsouth.com for the Jerome family.
