

Born on May 12, 1933 in Allentown, PA and raised in Cleveland, OH, Ken attended Orange High where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. He set many records, was All Ohio for the 1952 football team – led by Coach Jimbo Curry, and is a member of the Orange High Hall of Fame. While attending Orange, he met his wife, Carolyn. After high school, he served in the US Army and remained a proud veteran. Ken then worked as an operating engineer in Cleveland, where he and Carolyn raised their two sons, Ken Jr. and Tom, before relocating to Plantation, FL in 1972, working until retirement. He then spent time traveling with his family and serving the Lord as a volunteer at First Baptist Church.
Ken played an active role in the lives of his children and grandchildren, teaching life lessons such as respect, integrity, and sportsmanship. He will be remembered fondly for his artistic ability, quiet sense of humor, and dedication to family. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carolyn; his children, Kenneth Jr. (Bernadette) and Thomas (Katherine); his grandchildren, Bridgette (Dylan), Brittany, Brooke, Kenneth III, and Ashley; his great grandchild, Trinity; as well as his sisters, Carole and Wanda. He is predeceased by his mother, Marguerite (Ernie); brother, Raymond (Helen); and grandson, Thomas Jr. (TJ).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 12:00 – 2:00 at the KRAEER-FAIRCHILD FUNERAL HOME, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale. Ken’s funeral service will take place at 1:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Webb, officiating. Interment will take place in South Florida National Cemetery.
