Marilyn Joyce Comparoni (nee Bovee) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, with summer seasons in Lake City, MI and formerly of Waterford, MI; passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2024. We will always remember her friendly smile and vivacious personality. She was without a doubt one of the most thoughtful, generous, and encouraging mother, mentor, and friend to those who knew her well. A powerful inspirational figure in our lives. She was a patriot who loved her country. Forever we will remember her laughter, singing songs and her “can do” spirit that branded our minds with so many unforgettable memories. She attended Broadway musicals, concerts, and community festivals and occasional Tiger baseball game. Especially enjoyed classic country music, 50s Doo-Wop, and Big Band. George Jones, Elvis, and Dean Martin were her top favorites. She loved traveling, pontoon cruises, campfires, and karaoke. Moreover, she constantly served and doted on her loved ones with gifts, cards and to say how much she cares. Marilyn was an active participant and cheerleader in the lives of her family.
Most of all Marilyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She cherished and attended all family gatherings including religious, scholastic, athletic, and graduation events. Eagerly awaited the Christmas Holiday Season. She enjoyed trivia, reading, watching old Hollywood movies and game shows. Tuned in regularly to episodes of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” Loved laughing and playing card/dice games at home with family and friends, looked forward to casino night. She was the central figure of her family who will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that will be deeply and forever missed.
Marilyn, was employed by General Motors SPO. She was a member of UAW Local 653.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Mary Lynn Freeman -Waterford, MI, Therese Smyack (William) - Boca Raton, FL; her sons, Lorenso Comparoni III (Waterford, MI), Richard Comparoni (Omar) – Lighthouse Point, FL, Donald Comparoni (Jeanne) – Traverse City, MI; her grandchildren, Joseph, Natalie, Nina and Allison who preceded her and whose memory she held close to her heart. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Rocco, Lincoln and Wesley.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Lorenso J. Comparoni, Jr. of 47 years of marriage until his passing in January of 2002. She was also preceded by her parents Victor J. and Mary J. Bovee; her sisters, Helen, Anna, Grayce, Elizabeth and Donna and her brothers; Victor, James, George, John and Donald.
In lieu of flowers donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Jellico, Tennessee, where donations, if any will be directed.
Marilyn’s funeral service will begin at 10:30 am, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 5481 Dixie Highway, Waterford, MI 48329, the Rosary Service will commence at 10:00 a.m. followed by her Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will take place in Saint Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Jellico, TN.
