Michael J. McMahon, age 81, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale with his family and friends by his side. At the time of his passing he was in the hearts and minds of those he loved the

Michael was born on August 7, 1935, the eldest son of Michael and Josephne (Shortall) McMahon. Michael was a proud lifelong resident of the Bronx, NY and was a graduate of Rice High School and attended St. Phillip Neri Parish. He worked for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for 45 years where he was a Human Resources Manager at the corporate headquarters in Montvale, New Jersey. Michael took great pride in his work and treasured the friendships he made during his years at A & P.

After his retirement, Michael moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and emjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling the world. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale. Michael will be remembered for his constant smile, infectious laugh and will be truly missed by all.

Michael is survived by his life long companion of 62 years, Thomas "Gil" Colavito; his sister Maureen (McMahon) Callanan; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Cheryl McMahon; his sister-in-law, Flavia McMahon and his 17 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and great nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Patrick McMahon and Vincent and Patricia McMahon, his brother-in-law, John "Jack" Callanan and a niece Ann Marie McMahon.

Visitation and funeral service will be at a date and time to be announce.
