Husband. Father. Grandfather. Veteran. Patriot.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan (Nate) William Conner, Jr, on June 26, 2025, at his home in Plantation. He was born in Becket, Massachusetts on November 30, 1942 to Nathan William Conner, Sr. and Marie-Paule Marcelle Daigle-Conner of Becket where his paternal grandparents had a blueberry farm. Nate’s red hair gave him the nickname “Sandy” as a child and it continued for many longtime friends and family. He was a former member of the Becket Grange and graduated from Dalton High School, now known as Wahconah Regional.
As a young man, Nate served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He went on to become a successful local business owner of a metals fabrication and machine shop, United Fabricators Inc. With Nate’s leadership, creativity, relentless work ethic, and sense of humor, United Fabricators designed and fabricated custom projects large and small across the country, including for airports, Verizon, and Disney. After he successfully retired, and typical of his work ethic, he went on to build and develop a residential and commercial portfolio of residential and commercial warehouse rental properties in South Florida.
Nate loved to help others and throughout his life was an active and beloved member of the community. He was an umpire for Little League Baseball, helped run and fund the hotdog stand, was active for many years in local canal clean-ups in Plantation, and volunteered at the Nike Hercules Missile Site, HM-69, where he served years before in Everglades National Park. Nate also helped with a Scout Troop 76 Eagle Project and restoration of the Grange in Simsbury CT. He loved golf and laughing with friends and family. One of his favorite pastimes was going out on his 1972 fishing boat, “SanPaMar,” which he also used to help clean up the canals.
Nathan William Conner, Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maria Teresa Conner (nee Rodriguez), his daughter Susan (Sue) Masino and husband Dave Galt of West Simsbury, CT, and his son Paul and his wife Cindee Conner of Coral Springs, FL. Nate also leaves behind three grandchildren that he adored: Katie and Jack Galt and Rilee Conner. He also had many special and devoted friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved brother, Paul A. Conner, killed in action in Vietnam and who was awarded the Silver Star Medal for Gallantry, Bronze Star with Valor, and the Purple Heart Medals.
A service and celebration of life will be held in Fort Lauderdale at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2401 Southwest 64th Ave in Fort Lauderdale on Monday July 7 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The service will start at 6:00 pm, a reception will follow services at the funeral homes event space.
Nathan William Conner, Jr. will then be laid to rest in North Cemetery in Becket, MA alongside his parents and brother later this summer.
