He graduated from Hialeah High School in 1972. He was first briefly married to Debra Holt in 1982 and two years later, they welcomed their first child, daughter Amy Lynn, into their home. In 1993 Rex remarried to his second wife Nicole Jackson and together they had two more children, their son Nathanael and daughter Natasha. They were married for 20 years. His children remember him as a passionate, driven and adventurous father who loved God and the outdoors and encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Rex was a strong Christian, and his passion for spreading God’s word showed through his years of cell groups and street ministry. He was accomplished in martial arts, possessing a third degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Okinawan Karate; and as many friends and family can attest, he often enjoyed a good debate (be it spiritual, political, or philosophical).
Rex was a dedicated individual who loved his career with Ocean rescue for the City of Fort Lauderdale. A true example of his nature and life’s purpose, his “life’s work,” was about saving lives both literally and spiritually. He was an active and dedicated member of Calvary Chapel Church in Fort Lauderdale and often volunteered with their outreach programs.
Rex is survived by his children, Amy & Joe Montopoli, Nathanael Naused, Natasha Naused; his beloved granddaughter Serafina Montopoli; his siblings, Edward Naused, Michael Naused, Debra & Richard Wateska and Brenda Naused, as well as his aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews in both Florida and the Cayman Islands. He is preceded in death by his Father Edward Naused and his mother Ivilie Naused Defaut.
A private viewing and funeral is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home South in Davie, Florida.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and condolences.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnsouth.com for the Naused family.
