September 19th, 1979 – February 1st, 2021
Richard Eugene Burkeholder passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Monday, February 1st, 2021, at the age of 41 in Florida. He was born September 19th, 1979, in Brownfield, Texas to Gene & Lanie Burkeholder. He loved motorcycles, anything fast, his niece Audrey, helping others less fortunate than him, his dogs Ace and Diesel, who had passed prior to him, and building whatever he wanted. He was a skilled craftsman in construction, mechanics, and dabbled in pecan farming with his mother and father. He fulfilled a few of his dreams while here on this earth. He learned how to scuba dive and became a certified underwater welder in Florida. He also had learned to skydive and loved this activity the most. His passion for friends, God, and life in general was unparalleled. Richard had a big personality and tried his hardest to make a better life for himself in the past 5 years.
He is deeply loved by our family and his friends and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his parents, Gene & Lanie Burkeholder; a sister, Toni (Jeremy & Audrey) Wolcott; his grandmother, Antonia Ludi; and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family; close friends JJ Ortega in NM; Robin Alloun in FL; Idania Diaz in FL; and his church family at Sunrise Chapel.
A memorial will be held at Sunrise Chapel, in Pompano Beach, FL on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 11 am. In honor of Richard’s love for animals, please consider giving a donation in his name to Best Friends Animal Society & Sanctuary at https://bestfriends.org/donate/memory.
